Privacy policy
Last updated:
This policy explains how Jack Decode (Jacques Décode in French), the mobile game published by Purple-Galaxy under its games brand Purple-Galaxy Studio, handles your personal data. It covers the game on Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store), and this website.
In short: Jack Decode is a single-player game that works offline. It has no account, no ads, no in-app purchases, no analytics and no social features. Your progress, your settings and your gameplay statistics stay on your device: they are never sent to us. The only data that leaves your device is a crash report, sent to Unity Technologies, the maker of the game's engine, when the game crashes or stops responding, so that we can fix the problem. We never sell your data.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is:
- Julien DE MARCHI EI (sole trader, entrepreneur individuel), trading as Purple-Galaxy. Purple-Galaxy Studio is its games brand.
- Registered office: 60 rue François 1er, 75008 Paris, France
- SIRET: 991 751 462 00011
- Person responsible: Julien de Marchi

What stays on your device
The game saves on your phone or tablet:
- your progress in the cases and puzzles;
- your settings: the language and the music;
- your gameplay statistics, such as the time you took to solve each puzzle and the hints you used.
The game never sends this data to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it. Uninstalling the game deletes it. If you back up your device (for example with Google or iCloud backup), that backup may include it; it is managed by you and your device's provider, not by us.
What leaves your device: crash reports
Jack Decode is built with the Unity engine. Its Unity Engine Diagnostics service sends a report to Unity Technologies when the game crashes or stops responding (an "app not responding" error, or ANR). A report contains the technical information needed to diagnose the problem:
- the stack trace (where in the game's code the problem happened);
- your device model;
- your operating system version and the Unity version;
- an anonymous identifier that Unity assigns to this installation of the game, so that reports from the same device can be grouped together. It is not your device's advertising ID, and it is not linked to your name or to any account.
As with any connection over the internet, Unity's servers also see your device's IP address when a report is sent.
These reports are used only to find and fix crashes. They are not used for advertising, and they are not sold or shared for any other purpose. They do not contain your progress or your gameplay statistics. If your device is offline, the game keeps working.
This reporting is needed to keep the game working, so it runs without asking for your consent: it relies on our legitimate interest (see below), and you can object to it by writing to us. See also Unity's privacy policy.
Permissions the game uses
- Internet and network state: used only to send the crash reports described above. You do not need a connection to play.
- Vibration: for haptic feedback while you play.
On Android these are granted at installation, without a prompt. The game does not ask for your location, contacts, photos, files, camera or microphone.
What we do not collect
- No account or login: the game never asks for your name, email address or phone number.
- No ads: the game contains no ad network, and no advertising identifier is collected. A short break screen may appear between puzzles; it is part of the game and shows nothing from third parties.
- No analytics or tracking of how you play.
- No in-app purchases and no payment information.
- No location, contacts, photos, files, camera or microphone.
- No chat or social features, and nothing you can share with other players.
Why we use your data and on what legal basis
| Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Crash reports (Unity Engine Diagnostics): finding and fixing crashes, keeping the game stable | Our legitimate interest in providing a game that works (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Answering your emails and handling your requests | Our legitimate interest in answering you, and our legal obligations when you exercise your rights (Art. 6(1)(f) and (c)) |
| Website access logs | Our legitimate interest in keeping this website secure and working (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
The data stored on your device is not processed by us at all. You can object at any time to the processing based on our legitimate interest: write to support@purple-galaxy.com. We make no automated decisions about you, and we never sell or rent your data.
Who receives your data
- Unity Technologies (Unity Engine Diagnostics): receives the crash reports, to help us diagnose crashes. Unity privacy policy
- Cloudflare, Inc.: delivers this website and protects it from attacks, so it processes your IP address and the pages you request. It has nothing to do with the game. Cloudflare privacy policy
We may also disclose data when the law requires it, for example to answer a valid request from a court or public authority.
Transfers outside the European Union
Unity Technologies and Cloudflare are based in the United States and may process data there or in other countries outside the European Economic Area and Switzerland. These transfers rely on the safeguards provided by the GDPR and the Swiss data protection law, such as the EU–US and Swiss–US Data Privacy Frameworks or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, as described in each provider's privacy policy.
How long we keep your data
- Data on your device (progress, settings, statistics): until you uninstall the game or clear its data. We never have a copy.
- Crash reports: kept by Unity for the time needed to analyse crashes, under Unity's retention rules.
- Emails to support: for as long as needed to handle your request, then up to 3 years after our last exchange, so we can prove how a request was handled.
- Website server logs: see This website below.
Children
Jack Decode is intended for players aged 13 and over, as stated on its Google Play listing. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
The game asks for nothing personal: there is no account, no name or email address to enter, no chat and no way to share personal information with other players.
If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe a child under 13 has sent us personal data (for example by email), write to support@purple-galaxy.com and we will delete it.
Security
Crash reports are sent encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). The data saved on your device is protected by your device's own security, such as its screen lock. Access to support emails is limited to the people who answer them.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act, you have the right to:
- access your data and get a copy of it;
- rectify data that is inaccurate;
- erase your data;
- restrict or object to some processing;
- data portability: receive the data you provided in a structured, machine-readable format;
- give instructions about what happens to your data after your death.
If you live in Switzerland, the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) gives you similar rights, in particular to access, correct and delete your data.
To exercise a right, email support@purple-galaxy.com. We answer within one month. Because the game has no account, crash reports are not linked to your name, so we may need details such as your device model and the date of the crash to find the ones that came from your device. You can also contact Unity directly about its reports.
If you think your rights have not been respected, you can lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL: 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France, www.cnil.fr. You can also contact the authority of the EU country where you live, or in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), www.edoeb.admin.ch.
This website
This website (jackdecode.purple-galaxy.studio) uses no cookies, no analytics and no local storage. Fonts and images are served from our own server, and the pages load nothing from other sites.
- The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which protects it from attacks. To do so, Cloudflare processes your IP address and the requests your browser makes.
- Like any web server, ours records technical access logs (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type) to keep the site secure and working. They are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted.
The site is hosted by Purple-Galaxy on its own infrastructure in France. See the legal notice.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy before the game starts handling data differently, for example if it ever gets online features. The date at the top shows the latest version. For important changes, we will also say so on this website.
Change log
- 31 October 2026: crash reports also carry an anonymous installation identifier, used to group reports from the same device.
- 31 October 2026: first version.
